Since 1983 — Production in Japan

Since 1983, Tokuryo Line Lab has produced braided and fluorocarbon fishing lines in Japan. Every step of the process — from raw UHMWPE fiber to finished spool — happens under one roof. As exclusive European distributor since 2018, we bring that manufacturing precision directly to European retailers and anglers.

Our lines perform across every discipline — from ultra-light trout streams to offshore jigging for cod and halibut in Norwegian fjords. Over 120 retailers across Europe carry Tokuryo. The reason is consistent: the line performs, and it keeps performing.

How It's Made

Five Steps. No Shortcuts.

01

Premium Material Selection — Grade 1 from Japan

Peak performance starts with the raw fiber.

No coating on earth can make up for what's missing at the start. That's why we look at the fibers first. In Japan, UHMWPE goes through a certified classification across twelve quality grades, measured by purity, molecular density and consistency — and only one of them meets our standard. Tokuryo Line Lab works uncompromisingly with Grade 1, the highest there is. Where others start with cheaper material and mask the weaknesses later, we draw out the load capacity and molecular strength where it truly originates: in the raw fiber itself. What your Braid ultimately delivers is already decided here.

02

The AC Twist Method — Structural Perfection

Toughness that starts inside the strand.

Most 8-braids simply feed their eight strands into the machine in parallel and unprotected. We treat every single one beforehand. With the AC Twist Method, each of the eight strands is first twisted in itself under control before it is ever even braided. This twisting pulls the fine individual filaments tightly together and locks them into one another. The result is a strand that is more compact and abrasion-resistant. The decisive edge is there before braiding even begins.

03

The High-Tech Braiding Process

Geometry accurate to the micrometer.

Now the eight prepared strands come together. In our Japanese precision braiding machines they interweave under precisely regulated maximum tension, forming an 8-braid with a near-flawless round cross-section. The finely tuned braiding angle and the pre-twisted strands together produce an exceptionally dense, uniform braid. The surface becomes smooth and homogeneous, with no edges and no irregularities — a Braid that runs quietly and frictionlessly through the rod guides.

04

Special Fiber Waterproofing — The Inner Seal

Sealed where it matters: on the inside.

Every Braid fights the same physics: where round strands interweave, tiny voids are left behind in the core. On ordinary Braids, these fill with water like a sponge. The result is added weight, a tacky run against the blank and declining performance over the season. We address exactly this point — right in the middle of the Braid's formation. During braiding, we spray a specially developed binder composite directly into the core before the braid closes. It penetrates the structure and seals every air pocket from within. No void means no water ingress: no saturation, no swelling, no weight gain. Cast 1 feels like cast 1,000.

05

SI Nano Coating — The Ultimate Finish

Pure performance, no compromise.

For many manufacturers, the coating is the stopgap against water absorption. For us, that job is long done — so we use the final step for something else: pure performance. The finishing touch is a special, ultra-thin SI nano layer on the outside of the Braid. It makes the Tokuryo 8-braid noticeably smoother and suppler and lays over the braid like a protective film — against rocks, shell edges, gravel and timber. The run through the guides becomes whisper-quiet, casting distance increases, and lure control gains directness. What remains is a Braid whose longevity sets the benchmark in the premium segment.
